Are the present conflicts having an impact on your choice to dive Sharm etc this year? Where would you go as alternate?
Also is there concern that by not supporting the dive companies and operaters they may go out of business?
Will definately have impact on locals.

I think a lot of dive centres in Egypt and many of the tour operators which specialise in this area are suffering at the moment. Now is the perfect time to visit the Red Sea reefs as they haven't been this quiet for years, and to be honest, even at the height of the unrest, if you were in the resorts you wouldn't have known anything was really going on.

We need to be supporting the dive centres and tour ops now, as otherwise, when the majority of people deem the area is 'safe' to return to, there will only be a few dive centres and tour ops left!

We have been to Sharm three times in the last year and at times when the troubles were at the worst.

As the Editor says you wouldn't even know there was an issue apart from the hotels and dive sites were quieter and this can be seen by the amount of dive boats sitting in the harbour doing nothing.

Very sad as a lot of them will go out of business

The current troubles and the Shark attacks back in Dec 2010 have not helped Tourism or the dive business but hopefully things will get back to normal sooner rather than later.

I have just returned for a trip to Cyprus.
I dived the Zenobia - very interesting.
I also did a couple of shore dives ~ where are the fish?
It was weird swimmin in an empty sea
